Where Spirit Meets Story: My Journey From Cheerleader to Filmmaker

My name is Audrey Moss, and I am a passionate videographer and storyteller.

It all started when I began experiencing unexplained symptoms; fainting spells, tremors, and issues with my kidney function in middle school. After a long stretch of medical tests and uncertainty, I was diagnosed with a heart condition and a tremor disorder that put a strain on my body causing issues with my kidney function. It was a lot to process, especially because I had been involved in cheerleading and tumbling since kindergarten.

Cheerleading wasn’t just an activity for me, it was my community, my joy, my mom even helped coach and it was something I had worked hard on, with dreams of joining my high school team. But my heart condition made it dangerous to continue. The risk of passing out during stunts or tumbling meant I had to walk away. It was heartbreaking. I felt lost.

But my faith grounded me and helped me find a new path. I still wanted to be part of cheerleading, still wanted to be involved and contribute. So I picked up a camera.

What started as a small way to stay connected soon grew into something much more. I began filming our school’s sports and community events, and quickly discovered that I didn’t just enjoy it – I loved it. Capturing the raw emotion in every moment became a passion. The intensity, the teamwork, the cheers, the setbacks, the celebrations – all of it mattered to me.

Through filming, editing, music, and design, I found a way to tell stories people could feel. One of my videos even won a prestigious award for my school. But more than the recognition, what means the most is knowing I turned a hard and painful moment in my life into something meaningful and creative.

Sometimes life doesn’t go the way you planned, but it can still lead you to exactly where you are meant to be.
